Role Overview
Clinical Psychologist at NMC Healthcare, located in Sharjah.
Role Purpose
Deliver comprehensive clinical psychology services including psychiatric assessment, psychotherapy, and psychological testing. Maintain current knowledge of mental health treatment and prevention methods while adhering to international standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct psychiatric interviews and collect data for diagnostic purposes.
- Perform psychometric (mental measuring) testing for diagnosis and evaluation of therapy.
Treatment & Therapy
- Provide various psychotherapies, including individual, group, and family therapies.
- Offer counseling for couples with marital conflicts.
- Use behavioral methods for the treatment of children and adults and plan the frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy.
Professional Development & Research
- Engage in research and educational activities that will improve methods and techniques for the management of emotionally disturbed patients.
- Keep current with ideas in the fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders to assist in the planning of mental health progress.
Community & Organizational Support
- Provide advice to community organizations and participate in related psychological and welfare activities.
Compliance & Emergency Response
- Follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations, and Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients and while discharging professional duties.
- Take after-hours or weekend calls as required by specific cases or in emergency situations as requested.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Chief Psychiatrist.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized college or university.
- At least 2 years' experience in the field of clinical psychology.
- Current licensure in country of origin and MOH license to practice in Sharjah, UAE.
Skills & Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical ethics with regard to the obligation to maintain work confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of intelligence, achievement, interest, personality, and other psychological tests and measuring devices.
- Excellent command of oral and written English.
- Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
- Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
