Clinical Pharmacy Instructor (UAE National)

Role Overview

Clinical Pharmacy Instructor at Ajman University, located in the United Arab Emirates. This position is open to UAE nationals only.

Role Purpose

The Clinical Pharmacy Instructor provides academic, clinical, and experiential training support to pharmacy students across classroom, laboratory, and healthcare practice settings. The role includes supervising students during clinical training placements, delivering laboratory sessions and tutorials within the College, and reinforcing theoretical knowledge through structured practical application. The instructor ensures students develop clinical and professional competencies in alignment with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and patient safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Supervision & Training

• Supervise pharmacy students during clinical training placements in hospitals, clinics, and community pharmacy settings.
• Provide instruction and guidance on clinical pharmacy practice, pharmacotherapy, patient counselling, pharmaceutical care, and professional decision-making.
• Support students in applying theoretical knowledge during laboratory exercises, case-based tutorials, simulations, and real patient-care settings under supervision.

Laboratory & Tutorial Delivery

• Conduct and support laboratory sessions, skills labs, and tutorial classes within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
• Prepare laboratory materials, training plans, tutorial content, learning objectives, and required documentation for both on-campus and off-campus training activities.

Assessment & Feedback

• Assess student performance in laboratories, tutorials, and clinical training, provide constructive feedback, and support remediation plans when required.
• Monitor student attendance, performance, and professional conduct during laboratory sessions, tutorials, and clinical rotations.
• Support assessments including practical exams, OSCEs, case presentations, and experiential evaluations.

Collaboration & Coordination

• Collaborate with course coordinators, faculty members, preceptors, and healthcare professionals to ensure effective integration of academic and clinical training.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure that all teaching, laboratory, and training activities comply with university policies, accreditation standards, laboratory safety regulations, healthcare protocols, and patient safety requirements.

General

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or PharmD).
• Master's degree in Clinical Pharmacy or a pharmacy-related discipline is preferred.
• Three to five years' experience in hospital pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, or healthcare practice is required.
• Experience in clinical teaching, laboratory instruction, tutorial facilitation, or training supervision is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of clinical pharmacy practice, pharmacotherapy, and patient-centred care.
• Strong understanding of healthcare protocols, patient safety standards, laboratory safety requirements, and professional pharmacy practice guidelines.
• Ability to provide effective clinical supervision and academic support in laboratories, tutorials, and clinical settings.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage schedules, student records, and assessment data using MS Office applications including MS Word and Excel.
• Proficiency in using audio-visual equipment, learning management systems, and student information systems.

Additional Information

• Work is performed in classrooms, laboratories, skills labs, hospitals, clinics, and community pharmacy training sites.
• May require standing for extended periods during laboratory sessions and clinical supervision.
• Regular exposure to laboratory and healthcare environments with adherence to safety, infection control, and professional standards.
