Clinical Assistant/Assoc. Professor - Internal Medicine

Role Overview

Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in Internal Medicine at Ajman University, College of Medicine. Position starts fall 2026-2027.

Role Purpose

Contribute to high-quality clinical teaching, scholarly activity, and academic service in Internal Medicine. Focus on undergraduate clinical education, supervision of students in affiliated teaching hospitals, and active participation in curriculum development and accreditation processes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Teaching

• Develop and deliver clinical teaching in Internal Medicine aligned with university standards of Teaching, Research, and Service.
• Supervise, mentor, and assess medical students during inpatient, outpatient, and specialty rotations in Internal Medicine.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support clinical competence and professionalism.
• Maintain professional, supportive relationships with students conducive to effective learning.

Curriculum & Accreditation

• Support curriculum integration between Internal Medicine and other basic and clinical sciences.
• Participate in OSCEs, workplace-based assessments, and accreditation and quality assurance activities.

Research & Scholarship

• Conduct clinical or educational research and publish outcomes in reputable journals or conferences.

General Duties

• Perform additional academic or clinical duties as assigned by the department.

Qualifications & Experience

• Basic medical degree (MBBS/MD).
• Postgraduate qualification or terminal clinical degree in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution.
• Board certification and eligibility for professional licensure in the UAE.
• Demonstrated interest and experience in clinical teaching and medical education.
• Experience with integrated curricula and student-centered learning approaches (e.g., PBL/TBL) is desirable.

• Engage in scholarly work of very high quality as evidenced by external peer review.
• Exhibit strong pedagogic skills and remain proficient and current in discipline.
• Develop and lead high-quality research.
• Develop and lead community service efforts of Ajman University.
• Provide academic advising for students.
• Work effectively with multiple diverse communities.
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational technologies.
