Role Purpose

To support individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom, enabling them to fully participate in a range of activities during the school day while providing for their social, emotional, and physical well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Pupil Support and Well-being

• Provide support for individual pupils and groups to enable full participation in classroom and school activities.
• Support pupils with additional support needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Help develop pupils' social skills.
• Supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
• Monitor work assigned by the teacher, checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
• Keep pupils on task.
• Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils and report pupil progress to the teacher.
• Participate in development of behaviour policy and promote pupils' self-esteem.
• Discipline misbehaviour in line with whole school policy.

Academic Support

• Provide academic assistance.
• Give group instruction as prescribed by the teacher or provide individual instruction.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils and groups of pupils.
• Help monitor pupil progress.

Administrative and Classroom Support

• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Check attendance.
• Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
• Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.
• Reorganise materials at the end of the day.

Health, Safety and Compliance

• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Support the aims of the school and comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation, and school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum secondary school certificate.
• At least two years' experience in a school setting.
• UAE National with a minimum secondary school certificate or Bachelor's degree.

Skills & Competencies

• English language skills according to the school curriculum.
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
• Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
• High level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
• Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age, and ethnic background.
• Positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
