Role Purpose

Provide comprehensive support to individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom, enabling full participation in school activities while supporting their social, emotional and physical well-being, and assist class teachers in the delivery of high-quality education.

Key Responsibilities

Pupil Support and Well-being

• Provide support for individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in activities.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and physical well-being.
• Support pupils with additional support needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Help develop pupils' social skills.
• Supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
• Participate in development of behaviour policy.
• Promote pupils' self-esteem.
• Discipline misbehaviour in line with whole school policy.

Academic Assistance

• Provide academic assistance to pupils.
• Give group instruction as prescribed by the teacher.
• Provide individual instruction.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Monitor work assigned by the teacher, checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
• Keep pupils on task.
• Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils.
• Report pupil progress to teacher.

Individual Education Programmes

• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils and groups of pupils.
• Monitor pupil progress.

Administration and Records

• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Check attendance.
• Reorganise materials at the end of the day.

Classroom Support

• Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
• Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching.

Health, Safety and Policy

• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Support the aims of the school.
• Comply with requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation and school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum secondary school certificate.
• Bachelor's degree (preferred for UAE Nationals).
• At least two years of experience in a school setting.
• English language skills according to the school curriculum.
• UAE National status.

• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
• Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
• High level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.

• Positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
