Role Purpose

Support individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in school activities while promoting their social, emotional, and physical well-being. Assist class teachers with instruction, pupil records, and classroom management in alignment with school policies and values.

Key Responsibilities

Pupil Support and Well-being

• Provide support to individual pupils and groups to enable full participation in a range of activities during the school day.
• Support pupils with additional support needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties, and help develop their social skills.
• Promote pupils' self-esteem and participate in the development of behaviour policy.
• Supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.

Academic Assistance

• Give group instruction as prescribed by the teacher or provide individual instruction.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Monitor work assigned by the teacher, checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
• Keep pupils on task.
• Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils and report pupil progress to the teacher.
• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils and groups and help monitor their progress.

Classroom Operations and Administration

• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Check attendance.
• Support class teachers in photocopying and other administrative tasks to support teaching.
• Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
• Reorganize materials at the end of the day.

Health, Safety and Conduct

• Be pro-active in matters relating to health and safety.
• Discipline misbehaviour in line with whole school policy.
• Support the aims of the school and comply with requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation, and school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum secondary school certificate (UAE National with minimum secondary school certificate or Bachelor's degree).
• At least two years' experience in a school setting.
• English language skills according to the school curriculum.
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
