Role Purpose

To provide comprehensive support to pupils and class teachers across the school day, enabling students to fully participate in learning activities and promoting their social, emotional and physical well-being within a safe, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Pupil Support & Well-being

• Provide support for individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in a range of activities.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and physical well-being throughout the school day.
• Support pupils with additional support needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Help develop pupils' social skills.
• Supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
• Keep pupils on task during instruction.
• Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils.

Academic Assistance

• Provide academic assistance to pupils.
• Give group instruction as prescribed by the teacher.
• Provide individual instruction as needed.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Monitor work assigned by the teacher, checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
• Report pupil progress to the teacher.

Record-Keeping & Administrative Support

• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Check attendance.
• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils and groups of pupils.
• Help monitor pupil progress on these programmes.

Classroom Preparation & Environment

• Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
• Support class teachers with photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching.
• Reorganise materials at the end of the day.

Behaviour & Conduct

• Participate in development of behaviour policy.
• Promote pupils' self-esteem.
• Discipline misbehaviour in line with whole school policy.
• Be pro-active in matters relating to health and safety.
• Support the aims of the school and comply with requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation and school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• UAE National.
• Minimum secondary school certificate or Bachelor's degree.
• At least two years' experience in a school setting.
• English language skills according to the school curriculum.
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
