Role Purpose

Supervise and manage subcontractors to execute construction works safely and effectively in accordance with project specifications. Oversee day-to-day construction operations, coordinate between disciplines, ensure quality and compliance, and maintain project schedules and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Operations

• Supervise, manage and support subcontractors to proceed with construction effectively under safe conditions.
• Oversee construction operations on a day-to-day basis.
• Study drawings and execute work by managing labour, material and machinery per daily planning.
• Supervise and operate daily civil activities to comply with permit to work (PTW) requirements.
• Ensure necessary construction drawings and materials are available in advance of construction implementation.

Quality & Compliance

• Check that construction works are in accordance with project specifications and related standards.
• Ensure compliance with the quality control plan.
• Supervise and ensure construction quality in accordance with project specification and ITP (Inspection and Test Plan).
• Review the work of subcontractor surveyors to ensure surveying principles are correctly applied, calculations are accurate, and work is compliant to engineering standards.
• Detect any design errors and rectify them or request the site Engineer to make necessary changes.

Technical Documentation & Review

• Prepare letters and technical documents concerning the project including technical reports, project schedules, cost estimates and bills of materials.
• Review and give advice on technical documents submitted by subcontractors such as bar bending schedules, shop drawings and material approval request documents.
• Study and review drawings and specifications including sketch approval of details and plans.
• Review and approve bar bending schedules submitted by subcontractors.
• Prepare cost and quantity estimates (BOQ), work schedules, correspondence to clients and subcontractors, and technical submittals including shop drawing approval requests and material approval requests.
• Prepare construction method statements (M/S) based on specification and requirements.
• Generate civil engineering queries and technical information requests.

Safety & Compliance Documentation

• Supervise and ensure safe conditions at the construction site in cooperation with the safety department.
• Prepare job safety analysis (JSA) or equivalent documents based on specification and requirements.
• Record best practices (B/P) and lessons learned (L/L).

Progress Management & Reporting

• Monitor progress and oversee the delivery of materials.
• Manage construction progress by checking daily, weekly and monthly work done quantities.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly construction reports.
• Plan and schedule work and efficiently organize the site and facilities to meet agreed programmed deadlines.
• Follow up with subcontractors for timely completion of works while ensuring works are carried out per project specifications and contracts.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with other disciplines or departments to resolve interface issues.
• Support the subcontractor at all times and coordinate concerns to other disciplines.
• Communicate with the client to resolve issues with drawings or documents.
• Carry out safety checks and supervise labours at every stage of construction.

Qualifications & Experience

• Construction experience in oil and gas, petrochemical or power plants as a supervisor.
• Engineering and construction company working experience in the Middle East is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of construction management and engineering standards.
• Computer application ability with MS Office.
• Knowledge of building structures including substation, instrument shelter, workshop, laboratory, operator shelter, jetty control building and central control building.
• Knowledge of specialty works including tile work, painting work, waterproofing work, partition work, suspended ceiling work, raised access floor work, glass door and window work, and blast resistant door and window work.
• STAAD proficiency.
• SketchUp proficiency.
• Autodesk Land Desktop and Earthworks Programs proficiency.
• Specialty expertise in soil improvement, marine/jetty, cooling tower and LNG concrete tank work.
