Civil Engineer

Role Overview

Civil Engineer at Aviagen, site-based role responsible for the review, coordination, and supervision of all civil and structural aspects of construction projects.

Role Purpose

Act on behalf of the Owner to provide technical oversight throughout design, procurement, construction, testing, and handover phases. Ensure civil and structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project objectives, and contractual requirements. Work closely with GPP (Aviagen's design and construction supervision consultant), project managers, contractors, suppliers, and site supervision teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Review

• Review design drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, technical specifications, BOQs, and method statements for civil and structural works.
• Review and approve material selections and technical specifications for façade systems, waterproofing systems, and specialized building components.
• Provide technical recommendations to improve functionality, constructability, maintainability, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Site Supervision & Construction Monitoring

• Supervise civil and structural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure proper implementation of civil infrastructure, buildings, and site development works.
• Supervise earthworks, roads, drainage systems, utility corridors, concrete and steel works, foundations, and building construction activities.
• Coordinate closely with architectural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure proper integration of all building systems.

Inspection, Testing & Quality Control

• Track, review, and approve the full inspection cycle: vendor, subcontractor, material, and testing-laboratory approval; verification of materials on delivery; stage-by-stage inspection and acceptance of works; testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and final handover.
• Support quantity verification, progress measurement, and payment certification.
• Participate in inspections, snagging activities, punch list reviews, and final handover processes.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control requirements.

Coordination & Procurement Support

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and site supervisors on all civil and structural matters.
• Support procurement activities through technical evaluation of suppliers, subcontractors, materials, and construction systems.

Reporting & Risk Management

• Monitor progress against project schedules, identifying risks, delays, and potential technical issues.
• Prepare technical reports, site observations, progress updates, and recommendations for project management and clients.

HSE Compliance

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
