Role Purpose
The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading the Engineering department to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of all hotel facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. The role oversees preventive maintenance, energy management, regulatory compliance, renovation projects, and the delivery of exceptional guest and colleague experiences while supporting the hotel's sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance operations across the hotel.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal asset performance.
- Oversee utilities, energy conservation, and sustainability initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, environmental, and local regulatory requirements.
Budget & Projects
- Manage departmental budgets, maintenance contracts, and capital expenditure projects.
- Coordinate renovations, repairs, and engineering projects with minimal disruption to guests.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team to achieve high performance and service standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to support daily operations and enhance the guest experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years of engineering experience within the hospitality industry.
- At least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, MEP, HVAC, fire and life safety systems, and hotel maintenance operations.
- Familiarity with local regulations and sustainability best practices is an advantage.
