Cast Technician (Tawam Hospital)

Role Overview

Cast Technician position at SEHA Hospitals, Tawam Hospital. The role supports Orthopedic Surgeons across outpatient, inpatient, and operating room settings by applying, changing, and removing casts and traction devices while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Role Purpose

Support Orthopedic Surgeons in delivering patient care through the application and management of casts and traction devices, patient monitoring, clinical documentation, and education in a safe, compliant clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Patient Support

• Assist Orthopedic Surgeons with orthopedic outpatient procedures, inpatient cases, and operating room cases.
• Apply and change casts and apply various traction devices as directed.
• Report any significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse (RN) immediately.
• Provide health education relevant to the clinical condition, documented in the patient health record.

Communication & Coordination

• Facilitate effective communication between the patient, family, and the interdisciplinary health care team as required.

Documentation & Information Management

• Maintain responsibility for documentation and participation in the use of information technology and relevant electronic medical records.

Environment & Inventory Management

• Maintain departmental inventory of necessary materials and supplies.
• Ensure provision of a clean and safe working environment that minimizes risks to the patient, visitors, and staff.

Compliance & Professional Development

• Comply with SEHA, DOH, and organizational policies.
• Participate in quality improvement, mandatory training, and continuing professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Two years of experience post-certification in the related field with on-the-job training.
• British Casting Certificate (BCC) desired.
