Blasting & Painting Technician

Role Overview

Blasting & Painting Technician position with Saeed Raddad Group, operating as Napesco. The role focuses on surface preparation, coating application, quality inspection, and hazardous materials handling to meet industry standards and environmental regulations.

Role Purpose

Prepare metallic surfaces and structures through abrasive blasting, apply industrial coatings to specification, perform quality inspections, and ensure all work complies with stringent industry standards and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation

• Clean and prepare metallic surfaces, piping, and fabricated structures using abrasive blasting to achieve specified cleanliness profiles (e.g., SA 2.5 / NACE 2).
• Mask and shield critical components, machined faces, threads, and electrical parts from overspray and damage.

Coating Application

• Mix and prepare industrial paints, primers, and chemical coatings in strict accordance with Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Operate airless and conventional spray equipment to apply primers, intermediate, and finish coats to specified dry film thicknesses.

Quality Inspection & Monitoring

• Perform wet and dry film thickness measurements using specialized gauges to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Monitor and record ambient conditions, including relative humidity, dew point, and steel surface temperatures prior to application.

Equipment Maintenance

• Inspect, clean, and maintain blasting pots, air compressors, spray guns, hoses, and pressure regulators on a routine basis.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate logs of material batches, environmental parameters, and layer thickness test results on daily job reports.
• Safely handle, store, and dispose of paints, thinners, solvents, and hazardous waste in accordance with environmental regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in a relevant technical field.
• NACE / AMPP (or equivalent) Blasting & Coating Certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in blasting and painting industrial structures.
• Proficient in reading and applying TDS and MSDS documentation.
• Experience with wet and dry film thickness measurement techniques.
• Knowledge of environmental condition monitoring (humidity, dew point, surface temperature).
• Demonstrated safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste.
