BIM Supervisor

Role Overview

BIM Supervisor at AECOM. This role supervises a group of BIM team leads delivering concurrent infrastructure projects, holding accountability for the group's output and serving as the second most accountable position after the BIM Manager.

Role Purpose

Own resource deployment, clash resolution, validation of model and drawing submissions, and final approval before anything is issued for design review. Supervise BIM team leads to ensure concurrent infrastructure projects are delivered to standard and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Deployment and Progress

• Own the deployment of resources across the group's disciplines and rebalance as project demand moves.
• Chair production progress meetings and discipline coordination meetings for the group.
• Own the key performance indicators reported for the group and the progress position on clash and issue resolution.
• Onboard third parties brought in to support the project team.

Delivery Management

• Own model and drawing delivery for the group against the master information delivery plan and the discipline task information delivery plans.
• Own the standards that work is produced to: NOC data standardisation, base plan standardisation, base plan and title block milestone requirements, and the authoring tool template files.
• Own data shortcut setup and the part catalogue or object library arranged for each project.
• Own the implementation of design automation in support of the production teams.
• Maintain the single source of truth for the 2D extraction of drawings.

Validation and Issue

• Validate discipline model submissions against the model checklist and BIM data for GIS submission against the GIS checklist.
• Own the drawing checklist and CAD standard compliance check.
• Perform the final drawing sanity check before anything is issued to discipline or interdisciplinary review.
• Own quantity take-off compliance where it feeds the bill of quantities.

Clash and Interface

• Own the clash resolution activity for the group, end to end.
• Issue direction and provide the solution where a clash needs a decision.
• Agree the solution with the engineering team and establish which modeller carries the fix.
• Ensure interfaces and tie-ins between disciplines and with third parties are coordinated.

Training and Team Management

• Deliver internal training on the authoring tools and confirm the group's capability against project requirements.
• Manage performance and development for the team leads reporting to the role.
• Support recruitment, technical interviewing and onboarding.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Civil Engineering, or a diploma with equivalent proven experience.
• 10+ years in infrastructure design production, of which at least five supervising multiple teams or a large production team in an engineering consultancy.
• Demonstrable record of delivering to ISO 19650 on live projects; formal certification is an advantage.
• Middle East consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Skills & Competencies

• Civil 3D and AutoCAD to an advanced level, with a working command of Navisworks for clash and interface management.
• Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360, including model coordination spaces and package sharing.
• ISO 19650 in practice: BIM execution plan, master and task information delivery plans, information states and level of information need.
• Data shortcuts, part catalogues, object styles and authoring templates at a level that lets the role set them for others.
• Local authority requirements in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, including utility depth, cover and corridor allocation standards.

• Reports to: BIM Manager, Infrastructure.
• Direct reports: 5 to 6 BIM team leads and their teams.
