Role Overview

Role Purpose

To unite scientific rigor with commercial strategy to deliver high-impact launch and sustained medical leadership for Baxdrostat across diverse, fast-moving markets. The role shapes decisions that reach patients at pace and scale, building medical capabilities across countries while aligning brand and medical strategies to ensure launch excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Launch Leadership

• Lead and coordinate prelaunch and launch planning and execution for Baxdrostat across international markets.
• Ensure medical readiness and high-quality delivery from day one.

Regional Medical Strategy

• Design the regional medical strategy for the portfolio.
• Co-create the regional brand strategy with the Commercial lead.
• Align medical and commercial objectives to drive clear outcomes.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Provide expert medical input to Regional Commercial, Regulatory, and Market Access teams.
• Shape evidence plans, value narratives, and policy readiness that accelerate adoption and access.

Capability Building

• Enable and influence country medical teams through training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing.
• Ensure teams deliver credible, compliant medical communications and activities aligned to brand goals.

Evidence and Education

• Develop, manage, and oversee above-country evidence generation programs.
• Develop and oversee external medical education initiatives.
• Gather insights to address identified data and knowledge gaps.

External Engagement

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key external experts.
• Inform strategy and elevate scientific exchange.
• Strengthen advocacy for the asset.

Global Connectivity

• Drive close collaboration with global and regional teams.
• Ensure regional needs are heard and integrated into evolving strategies and priorities.

Scientific Leadership

• Provide timely medical expertise and remain current on scientific, clinical, and competitor developments.
• Inform decisions and anticipate market dynamics.

Compliance Stewardship

• Ensure all activities uphold AstraZeneca Policies and Standards.
• Maintain adherence to Code of Conduct, Ethical Interaction, Privacy, and Procurement requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Advanced degree in a scientific discipline; preferably a doctoral degree such as M.D., Pharm.D., or Ph.D.
• Proven 8 or more years of experience in medical affairs.
• Country and leadership experience of strategic medical planning, launch planning, and execution.
• Prior role as a Therapy Area Head in a large marketing country, Country Medical Director, or Global / Above-market Medical Director.
• Proven track record of effectively working and influencing without authority within a matrix organization.
• Solid experience in team management and project management.
• Therapy area knowledge and experience in biologics.
• Extensive experience in collaboration with external parties.
• Experience managing cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
• Solid business understanding and acumen.
• Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance framework in which AstraZeneca operates.
