Role Overview
Barge Superintendent at NMDC Group. This is an offshore leadership role responsible for the general administration, supervision, and operational management of a barge, its personnel, and all equipment onboard.
Role Purpose
Oversee all aspects of barge operations, personnel management, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance to ensure effective project execution and continuous operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Administration & Supervision
- Lead general administration and overall supervision of the barge.
- Own responsibility for all personnel and equipment onboard the barge.
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with base for administration of the barge, progress reporting, and future barge requirements.
- Communicate other relevant important matters to base.
Logistics & Supply
- Ensure proper fuel and water supply to the barge and supporting vessels by coordinating with the base.
- Supervise warehousing of stores on the barge.
- Ensure efficient use of available space and proper storage of all barge and project material.
- Ensure proper catering services to barge personnel.
Maintenance & Equipment
- Ensure periodical maintenance of barge equipment.
- Coordinate repairs and spare parts procurement.
- Control and supervise external and internal maintenance of the barge, including painting, cleaning, and relevant repairs.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards.
- Suggest barge modifications to base and implement approved modifications for better operations and improved productivity.
Personnel Management
- Resolve personnel problems of barge personnel when issues cannot be resolved by juniors or subordinates.
- Schedule leave breaks for barge personnel while ensuring all operations are effectively carried out at all times.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote safety consciousness amongst all personnel on the barge.
- Ensure that safety measures and installation procedures are implemented on the barge.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school or equivalent.
- 15–18 years of experience with proven offshore barge experience.
- Proven experience with barge structures and pipe laying.
- All offshore safety training requirements.
Skills & Competencies
- Good standard of English.
- Superior knowledge of all aspects of offshore operations.
- Organizational and leadership skills.
- Right attitudes for offshore operations.
- Effective contractual and technical skills.
