Role Overview
Ziina is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer, Payments Experience to join their team in the UAE. You will help build innovative features, prepare technology to scale, and shape the engineering organization.

Role Purpose
You will own end-to-end reliable, scalable, and maintainable software that keeps users' funds safe. You will take features from design through implementation, polish, shipping, monitoring and measurement. You will also help foster a high-performance culture and shape engineering practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Feature Development and Ownership
- Collaborate with product, design, operations, and engineering teams to determine which features and solutions deliver the most value for the business and the best user experience
- Own and ship end-to-end reliable, scalable, and maintainable software that will keep users' funds safe and stand the test of time
- Take features from design to implementation to polish to shipping to monitoring and measuring progress
Infrastructure and Platform
- Design and build a cloud-native platform while leveraging main features for monitoring, observability, security, scalability, elasticity, and testing
- Improve CI/CD workflows to reduce time-to-market for new features
Culture and Mentorship
- Foster a high-performance culture by mentoring engineers, promoting best practices, and creating an environment where engineers can thrive and grow
- Help shape engineering culture by introducing good practices and methods of knowledge-sharing

- Experience with GraphQL Federation for client-facing APIs
- Experience with PostgreSQL for consistent and durable storage
- Experience with Redis for quick fetching
- Experience with Elasticsearch for quick searching
- Experience with Kafka for inter-service communication
- Experience with AWS for cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Kubernetes for orchestrating workloads
- Experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with Github Actions for CI/CD
Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years developing software
- Experience working on systems that handle money
- Experience with Node.js, GraphQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch, or Kafka
- Experience shipping and maintaining complex backends

- You must live in or be willing to relocate to the UAE
