Company Overview

The Wholesale, IB & International Business Finance team supports Global Corporate Finance, Transaction Banking, Global Markets, and the Coverage function for Investment, Corporate & Commercial Banking. The unit falls under the Group Finance department and reports to the CFO - Wholesale, IB & International.

Role Purpose

Act as a trusted finance advisor on business performance and strategic issues specific to the Wholesale and Investment Banking business. Deliver world-class financial reporting and support services, providing professional, independent, and objective financial advice that drives business objectives while ensuring compliance with Group policies, standards, and external statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Strategy

• Enhance value-added business partnership to drive business performance.
• Provide strategic financial support and guidance to the Investment Banking business, ensuring alignment with overall group objectives.
• Contribute towards ensuring Finance acts as a key business partner for the Coverage business and trusted advisor on business performance and strategic issues.
• Maintain key linkages and strong working relationships with senior business leaders within Coverage, Group Finance, and senior management across other enablement functions.
• Provide input to wider Finance strategy activities and work effectively on overall regional and global programs.
• Engender a culture of continuous improvement within the Wholesale & IB Business Finance team.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business goals.
• Contribute towards the development and rollout of Customer/Segment MIS to support IB globally.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Conduct detailed financial analysis, including customer and segmental profitability analysis, cost management, and performance metrics, to support decision-making.
• Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual MI to senior management and stakeholders.
• Produce financial and management accounting reporting statements for the functional area of responsibility in line with Group reporting standards.
• Provide comprehensive P&L analysis including detailed analysis and interpretation of daily, weekly, and monthly performance of Coverage.
• Assist with periodic segment and sector analysis, holding customer reviews with the business.
• Assess the quality of service provided to principal customers in conjunction with FP&A and ensure the area adds value through provision of accurate and valuable financial data and advice.

Controls, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and governance standards.
• Manage day-to-day and month-end controls of P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliation, substantiation, and reporting for Coverage.
• Ensure compliance and control of specific accounting processes and practices for proposed new product initiatives or product variations.
• Develop and own Coverage-relevant policies and hold accountability for adherence therewith.
• Identify and report any policy breaches.
• Develop and implement global operational financial policies and procedures for specific functional areas.
• Maintain a robust control environment.

Stakeholder Management & Advisory

• Provide key inputs on business management forums and MIS reviews.
• Contribute value-added commentary and insight encompassing related products where necessary.
• Serve as key business finance contact for all International Coverage queries, leading discussions with the business and relevant enablement functions.
• Provide relevant support to VP and SVP, Business Finance, ensuring all business transacted is compliant, safe, and sustainable.
• Work with Treasury on any FTP, capital, and liquidity matters affecting Coverage and CIB products as required.

Process Improvement & Optimization

• Participate in identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes, and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.
• Review existing systems, processes, procedures, and MIS to proactively identify areas of improvement.
• Identify, implement, and achieve opportunities for re-engineering and economies of scale.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance role with leading international or regional banks.
• Technical knowledge of Wholesale & Investment Banking products.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in financial modelling and forecasting.
