Role Overview

Attender at NMC Healthcare. The role assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and contributes to the overall well-being of patients as a member of the nursing team.

Role Purpose

Support the nursing team in delivering direct and indirect patient care, maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment, and ensuring patient comfort and hygiene according to clinical protocols and infection control guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Support

• Assist in patient care and ward-related duties as directed by and under supervision of the staff nurse.
• Respond quickly to patient requests for assistance.
• Assist with patient elimination, mobility, and physical comfort needs.
• Assist with patient eating and drinking needs while observing and reporting any specific changes to the staff nurse.
• Assist nursing staff in bed making, sponge bathing, and other hygienic activities for the patient.

Environmental & Facilities Management

• Maintain cleanliness in all areas including patient rooms within the unit.
• Assist in the maintenance of supply and storage areas.
• Segregate soiled linen in accordance with infection control guidelines under the supervision of nursing personnel.
• Clean equipment, beds, lockers, and furniture.

Patient Preparation & Movement

• Escort patients to and from the Radiology Department as directed by the nurse on duty.
• Transport patients as required.
• Prepare surgical sites by trimming hair.
• Assist nursing staff in preparing and cleaning patient rooms for admission and discharge.

Support Services

• Act as a messenger when required, including specimen transporting, CSSD instruments, and insurance purposes.
• Participate in infection prevention and control programs.
• Participate in any scheduled educational activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrate motivation to work in a health care environment.

Skills & Competencies

• Intermediate English skills preferred.
• Spoken Arabic advantageous.
