ATC Wayside and Onboard technician

Role Overview

ATC Wayside and Onboard Technician at Hitachi Rail STS S.P.A., based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Full-time position on the Riyadh Project, starting as soon as possible.

Role Purpose

To assist the ATC Supervisor in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on ATC Wayside and Onboard equipment while monitoring performance of the ongoing maintenance regime to ensure continual improvement of asset reliability and availability, and optimized lifecycle cost.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Operations

• Assist the ATC Supervisor in carrying out all levels of preventive and corrective maintenance activities on ATC Wayside equipment and onboard equipment.
• Carry out routine vehicle inspections, inspecting parts for surface defects, changing consumable items, performing minor repairs and technical cleaning.
• Perform time-sensitive fault diagnostics and component replacement on the ATC system (Onboard and Wayside), either on site or in depot.
• Perform calibration of track circuits in the mainline and verify the functioning of vital relays (Onboard and SER).

Safety and Compliance

• Follow appropriate maintenance procedures, instructions, operating rules and procedures to ensure compliance with maintenance requirements.
• Uphold safety practices at all times in accordance with company procedures.
• Implement and follow Permit to Work process.
• Implement the LOTO procedure before commencing work on track switch machines for any maintenance-related activities.
• Perform roles necessary for the management of the safe system of work, including meeting tight maintenance schedules.
• Protect people working on or near the track and protect people in possessions.

Documentation and Records

• Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of ATC system, tools, calibration of track circuits, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
• Write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.

Equipment and Tools

• Assist Supervisor in ensuring only tools and special equipment that are calibrated and in date are used for maintenance.

Operational Duties

• Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
• Implement a culture of continuous improvement in maintenance delivery.
• Perform duties as instructed or directed by the ATC System Supervisor.
• Safely operate vehicles, emergency trucks and other equipment and vehicles.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in railway industry maintenance of signaling equipment.
• Previous metro system maintenance experience.
• Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or electronics engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Prior experience in shunting and driving engineering vehicles and/or locomotives is an added advantage.
• Completely aware of the interference and consequences of failure in signaling systems in a metro.
