ATC wayside and Onboard Technician

Role Overview

ATC Wayside and Onboard Technician at Hitachi Rail STS S.P.A., based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position on the Riyadh Project, available to start as soon as possible.

Role Purpose

To maintain and optimize the performance of ATC (Automatic Train Control) wayside and onboard equipment across 24/7 operations, ensuring continual improvement of assets reliability and availability while managing optimized lifecycle costs.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive and Corrective Maintenance

• Assist the ATC Supervisor in carrying out all levels of preventive and corrective maintenance activities on ATC Wayside equipment and onboard equipment.
• Carry out routine vehicle inspections, inspecting parts for surface defects and changing consumable items.
• Perform minor repairs and technical cleaning as required.
• Perform time-sensitive fault diagnostics and component replacement on the ATC system (Onboard and Wayside), whether repair on site or inside depot.

Compliance and Safety

• Follow appropriate maintenance procedures, instructions, operating rules and procedures to ensure compliance with maintenance requirements.
• Implement and follow Permit to Work process.
• Implement the LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedure before commencement of work on track switch machines for any maintenance-related activities.
• Uphold safety practices at all times in accordance with company procedures.
• Perform roles necessary for the management of the safe system of work, including meeting tight maintenance schedules.
• Protect people working on or near the track.
• Protect people in possessions.

Calibration and Diagnostics

• Perform calibration of track circuits in the mainline.
• Verify the functioning of vital relays (Onboard and SER).
• Check the settings and calibrations on an OTM (On-Track Machine) prior to use on the running line.
• Operate an OTM that alters the track profile.

Records and Equipment Management

• Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of ATC system, tools, calibration of track circuits, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
• Assist Supervisor in ensuring only tools and special equipment that are calibrated and in date are used for maintenance.

Operations and Duties

• Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
• Operate vehicles, emergency trucks and other equipment and vehicles safely.
• Operate a vehicle on the permanent way to carry out maintenance on the permanent way or supporting structures, including the use of rail, road/rail, road wheeled or tracked vehicles.
• Perform and carry out duties as instructed or directed by the ATC System Supervisor.

Continuous Improvement

• Implement a culture of continuous improvement in maintenance delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

• Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in the railway industry.
• Previous metro system maintenance experience.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in maintenance of third rail and tracks in railway industry.
• Prior experience in shunting and driving engineering vehicles and/or locomotives is an added advantage.
• Experience installing and commissioning new infrastructure.
• Experience inspecting track.

Additional Information

• Full-time, permanent position.
• No remote work; position is on-site in Riyadh.
• Shift basis covering 24/7 operations.
