Role Overview
Associate Mechanical Engineer at McDermott, responsible for performing routine assignments in an entry-level role to support the Mechanical discipline.

Role Purpose
The Associate Mechanical Engineer utilizes existing Mechanical procedures to solve routine or standard problems, receiving instruction and guidance from senior team members while applying conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Mechanical Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Analysis
- Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks.
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.
- Carry out all relevant drafting activities including datasheet sketches and modifications drawings.
Project Execution
- Gain understanding of Mechanical engineering main duties across different stages of projects.
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring.
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.
- Specify simple types of equipment by process and project requirements under lead engineer guidance.
Standards and Compliance
- Apply all relevant procedures, practices, and international standards according to discipline (Static, Rotating, Package, special equipment) and as per Project requirements.
- Apply all relevant Health, Safety, and Environment requirements and criteria in engineering work and decisions.
- Become familiar with all quality and documentation systems.
- Learn the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable.
Collaboration and Communication
- Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking for understanding.
- Assist in supplying another discipline with relevant information as per their requirement.
- Support the drawings, documents, and inspection and test procedures review from sellers and manufacturers.
- Assist Mechanical Engineers and Buyers with evaluation of Technical and Commercial bids.
- Show flexibility to assist colleagues and supervisors with increased workload.
Technical Development
- Learn design techniques and analysis methods.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Master's Degree is preferred).
- 0–3 years of experience in Oil and Gas.
- Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society.
Skills & Competencies
- Good English in writing and speaking (B2 Level).
- Quality-oriented and schedule conscious.
- Good communication skills and team player behavior.
- Flexibility to support team members and supervisors.

- Reports to: Lead Engineer (Project), Supervisor/Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager (Functional).
- Liaises with: Engineers, Design Supervisors, and Designers within own discipline.
