Associate Director, Project & Sustainable Finance

Role Overview

Associate Director, Project & Sustainable Finance at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB). The role is based within the Global Corporate Finance division, serving the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) and Financial Institutions Group (FIG) client segments.

Role Purpose

Support the origination, structuring, and execution of Asset and Project Finance transactions across FAB's global client base, while developing expertise in aviation and project finance sectors, driving revenue generation, and advancing the bank's capabilities in asset, project, export finance, and ESG initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Origination & Execution

• Support the Asset & Project Finance (APF) team in originating, structuring, and executing APF transactions for FAB clients globally across CIB and FIG segments.
• Contribute to revenue targets for Global Corporate Finance through transaction delivery.
• Support advisory mandates selectively undertaken for strategic reasons for key FAB clients.

Strategy & Business Development

• Support the Team Head in developing and implementing the Aviation Industry Business Strategy and Project Finance Business Strategy.
• Provide strategy updates as required based on market environment.
• Develop strong understanding of the Aviation sector including Airlines, Lessors, Manufacturers, Aviation Banks, and other financiers.
• Research industry topics as required for internal or external purposes.

ESG & Compliance

• Support the Team Head on various ESG initiatives for the loans business.
• Provide regular internal updates to the team on developments in the ESG space.
• Support the team on Project Finance transaction inclusion and Equator Principle reporting.
• Review and conclude financing and security documentation to ensure compliance with credit approved terms.

Financial Analysis & Modeling

• Prepare projections, analyze cash flow models, and run sensitivities.
• Maintain pricing details for all APF transactions.
• Prepare pitch books, term sheets, information memoranda, and financial models.
• Prepare mandate letters and review feasibility reports, financial statements, and financial, legal, and technical due diligence reports.

Credit & Risk Review

• Participate in discussions with Credit on specialized transactions.
• Review green light memos, credit memos, specialized waiver requests, and amendment requests to understand transaction details.

Stakeholder & Internal Management

• Collaborate closely with senior team members, Corporate and Financial Institutions coverage teams, product partners, and key stakeholders.
• Assist the Team Head in ensuring the APF Team is up to date on all internal training programs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in Project Finance and Aviation Finance.
• Good knowledge of Global and Regional Aviation and Project Finance sectors.
• Good understanding and knowledge of International Aviation debt markets and syndicated loan markets.
• Good understanding of Project Finance structures, typical participants, assessment tools, and knowledge of Project Finance markets, syndicated loan, and debt capital markets.
