Assistant Store Manager

Role Overview

Assistant Store Manager at Apparel Group, responsible for supporting store operations and ensuring exceptional customer service in a retail environment.

Role Purpose

To assist the Store Manager in the efficient and profitable operation of the store in accordance with company policies and procedures, while ensuring the highest levels of customer service and maximizing sales. The role includes end-to-end store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

• Ensure retail staff provide the highest levels of customer service to maximize sales.
• Maintain up-to-date product knowledge to effectively respond to and anticipate customer needs.
• Promote the Club Apparel Loyalty Program to maximize customer loyalty and repeat sales.
• Maintain knowledge of new products, trends, and fashion directives at all times.
• Stay updated on the various brands within the group for suggestive selling to customers.

Store Operations & Standards

• Assist the Store Manager in the implementation of operating procedures at the store according to company standards.
• Ensure brand and company policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff at all times.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards at the store in accordance with established VM standards.
• Regularly audit store administration and resolve any issues identified.
• Ensure awareness and vigilance of security in the store at all times without negligence.

Staff Management

• Manage the daily roster, leave, and grievances of retail staff.
• Ensure retail staff have the skills required for providing highest levels of customer service.
• Provide feedback to the Store Manager and/or Area Manager regarding employees and products.

Qualifications & Experience

• Fashionable and well-groomed appearance with up-to-date product knowledge to ensure minimal stock loss.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong product knowledge across all brands in the group.
• Ability to manage staff scheduling, leave, and grievances.
• Store administration and audit capabilities.
• Visual merchandising knowledge and standards compliance.
• Security awareness and vigilance.

Additional Information

• Must be physically fit to stand for extended hours and perform heavy lifting.
