Role Overview
Assistant Nurse - Pre Anesthesia Clinic at American Hospital Dubai, based in Dubai.
Role Purpose
Deliver patient-centered nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse within the Pre-Anesthesia Clinic, supporting patients' health, comfort, and safety through clinical and personal care activities.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Provide patient-centered nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse within the Pre-Anesthesia Clinic.
- Assist with assessing, intervening, and evaluating patient health and functional status.
- Support patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and mobility, to promote independence.
- Provide support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Assist with routine procedures such as blood draws.
- Remove peripheral intravenous lines as instructed by the Registered Nurse.
Monitoring & Documentation
- Monitor and report changes in the health and functional status of patients to the Registered Nurse.
- Monitor and document accurate intake and output for patients.
- Measure and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
- Monitor pain levels and report findings to the healthcare team.
- Document care provided and report any changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain ongoing communication with the healthcare team regarding patient care.
- Provide relevant healthcare information and support to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote a culture of safety and quality care.
- Assist in controlling and directing visitors and supporting patients' families when required.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow American Hospital Dubai and Dubai Health Authority precautions and infection control protocols.
- Ensure proper disposal of contaminated waste and cleaning of equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the unit.
- Ensure patient safety through the use of proper identification practices.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe and effective practice environment.
Professional Practice & Development
- Practice within the legal and ethical framework established by American Hospital Dubai and Dubai Health Authority.
- Maintain accountability for personal nursing actions and decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma of Nursing with a minimum course duration of eighteen (18) months.
- Current and valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Knowledge of quality improvement, nursing standards, infection control, and healthcare delivery systems.
- Skills in hospital and unit-specific competencies related to the job required.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
