Role Overview

Assistant Nurse - Homecare at NMC Healthcare, providing direct patient care support within a home care setting.

Role Purpose

To assist the Registered Nurse in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice, patient advocacy and professional conduct.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Assist the Registered Nurse in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
• Monitor the impact of nursing care and maintain ongoing communication with the Registered Nurse regarding the status of patients in their care.
• Demonstrate an understanding and utilization of Evidence-Based Healthcare.
• Advocate in the best interest of the patient and family at all times.
• Provide education to the family regarding aspects of care as appropriate.
• Demonstrate the ability to assist physicians and therapists with procedures.

Clinical Knowledge & Professional Development

• Maintain up to date clinical knowledge and self-directed ongoing education.
• Complete annual education requirements and maintain regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate familiarity with and understanding of the Severe Care Domains of DOH.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.

Compliance & Conduct

• Adhere to dress code; maintain professional, neat and clean appearance.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated time.
• Attend and participate in annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
• Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
• Actively participate in Performance Improvement and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
• Comply with all organizational policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate from a recognized nursing school with minimum 2 years of training.
• Minimum 1 year clinical experience plus 6 months recent experience with ventilated patients (6 months adult ventilated patients for adult Assistant Nurses; 6 months pediatric ventilated patients for pediatric Assistant Nurses).
• Long term care or rehabilitation experience (preferred).
• Current valid registration in country of training and/or country of last employment.
• Eligible for DOH licensing.
• ACLS (for adult patients).
• PALS (for pediatric patients).

Skills & Competencies

• Competent in life support.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice.
• Communicate verbally and in written English.
• Speak Arabic.
• Self-motivated.
