Role Overview

Assistant Chief Engineer at The WB™ Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection by Hilton™, a luxury hospitality property operated by Hilton. This position supports the Chief Engineer in managing engineering operations and facility maintenance.

Role Purpose

Support the Chief Engineer in managing day-to-day Engineering Department operations, ensuring all hotel facilities, equipment, and building systems are maintained to the highest standards while leading the engineering team and contributing to an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Operations

• Support the Chief Engineer in managing daily Engineering Department operations.
• Ensure efficient maintenance activities and smooth facility operations.
• Maintain compliance with hotel standards throughout all engineering activities.

Facility & Systems Management

• Monitor the condition and performance of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems.
• Maintain guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to the highest standards.
• Plan, coordinate, and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Minimize downtime and ensure reliability of all engineering systems.
• Support energy conservation initiatives and cost-control measures.
• Optimize inventory management and efficient utilization of engineering resources.

Team Leadership & Development

• Supervise, guide, and support engineering colleagues through coaching and training.
• Provide performance feedback to build a skilled and motivated team.
• Inspire and develop team members to support a high-performing engineering operation.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Maintain compliance with Hilton standards, local regulations, and health and safety requirements.
• Ensure adherence to fire and life safety procedures and environmental practices.
• Develop and maintain strong understanding of compliance standards.

Technical Coordination & Problem Resolution

• Work closely with hotel departments, contractors, and service providers to resolve technical issues.
• Support smooth hotel operations through effective external coordination.
• Provide timely support during maintenance emergencies, breakdowns, and urgent guest-related engineering requests.
• Ensure minimal disruption to hotel operations during technical challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of engineering experience within the hospitality industry in the same role.
• Previous experience with international hotel brands preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance standards.
• Proactive mindset with strong commitment to guest satisfaction, quality, and operational excellence.
