Role Overview
ARMO Welder II position at Baker Hughes, located at the Qatar Service Center.
Role Purpose
Support the Qatar Service Center welding cell by performing weld repairs, grinding, blending, non-destructive testing, dimensional checks, and inspection activities on gas turbine buckets, blades, and related components to meet Baker Hughes standards and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Welding & Repairs
- Perform weld repairs on gas turbine buckets, blades, and HGP/Combustion components.
- Execute grinding and blending work on repaired areas.
- Follow shop routing, work instructions, drawings, engineering requirements, and welding procedures (WPS).
Quality & Inspection
- Perform spot dye penetrant inspection (DPI) and visual checks on repaired areas.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring instruments.
- Complete required documentation with accurate information including routers, job cards, labor reporting, checklists, and forms.
Operations & Compliance
- Work closely with the cell leader and engineer to ensure efficient operation of equipment.
- Maintain a clean work area and contribute to overall housekeeping efforts.
- Ensure the work area is compliant with HSE requirements.
- Maintain full compliance with Baker Hughes policies and procedures.
- Update digital shop systems related to assigned work, including Digital Work Order, Time Vouchering, and Operation completion.
General Duties
- Perform assigned tasks efficiently with minimal or no supervision.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Certificate or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in gas turbine components repairs.
- Qualified welder per ASME IX or equivalent standard.
Skills & Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of welding.
- Proficiency with measuring instruments and their usage.
- Dye penetrant testing and inspection capability.
- Experience with gas turbine components repairs and assembly.
- Overhead crane operations.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and self-starter mentality.
- Problem-solving capability and willingness to learn.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
