Area Head of MPL - SAA

Role Overview

Area Head of Maersk Project Logistics - Saudi Arabia Area at A.P. Moller - Maersk, based in Saudi Arabia. You will be accountable for operational performance and profitable growth within the Area/Cluster, leading operations and business development teams to deliver service excellence, execute global standards, drive commercial opportunities, and own the P&L for your defined scope.

Role Purpose

To ensure alignment between product, sales, and operations to secure customer outcomes and sustainable growth across the Saudi Arabia Area/Cluster. This role reports to the Regional Head of MPL - IMEA.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead Area/Cluster operations and business development teams, including managers, specialists, and execution staff.
• Build capabilities, drive performance management, and ensure a strong team culture.

Operational Execution

• Ensure end-to-end execution quality, service delivery, compliance, and QHSE adherence.
• Monitor operational KPIs, identify root causes of issues, and drive timely recovery actions.
• Oversee resource planning, workload distribution, and utilisation of tools, platforms, and processes.
• Lead implementation of new solutions, product updates, systems, and operational standards.

Commercial & Business Development

• Drive Area/Cluster growth through opportunity qualification, pipeline support, and customer solutioning.
• Partner with Area Leadership Team and Sales to retain and grow business through improved delivery, onboarding, and customer experience.
• Lead operational and commercial input into RFPs, pricing, and customer engagement.

Governance & Performance Management

• Own Area/Cluster P&L for your operational scope.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and forecasting with regional leadership.
• Ensure adherence to global standards, policies, and processes and compliance with QHSE policies.
• Drive continuous improvement, cycle-time reduction, and operational optimisation.

Stakeholder Alignment

• Act as primary operational and commercial-enablement representative for the Area/Cluster.
• Ensure alignment across Product, Sales, Customer Experience, Finance, Procurement, and Regional Operations.
• Represent the function in escalations, customer meetings, and strategic reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive management experience with past performance across multiple geographies.
• Strong logistics experience.
• In-depth understanding of Project Logistics delivery.
• Extensive supply chain experience.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical ability with a global, digital mindset.
• Experience with and sustained interest in systems and process management and process improvement.
• Strong collaborator and communicator.
• Strong collaborative drive and stakeholder management skills.
