Role Overview
Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil (Substations) at AtkinsRéalis. This role supports the supervision and coordination of civil works for substation construction projects.

Role Purpose
To support the Resident Engineer in supervising and coordinating civil works for substation construction projects while ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with approved designs, quality standards, and health, safety and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision and Inspection
- Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising civil works for substation projects, including foundations, control buildings, equipment plinths, cable trenches, and drainage works.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate site records, daily logs, and inspection reports.
Contractor Coordination and Compliance
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review contractor submissions such as method statements, shop drawings, material approvals, and work procedures.
- Provide support in resolving site-related technical and construction challenges.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Support coordination between civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines to ensure smooth project execution.
- Participate in site meetings and support communication between stakeholders including client and contractors.
Quality Assurance and Documentation
- Assist in implementing QA/QC procedures and ensure construction works meet required standards.
- Track project progress and report delays, risks, or technical issues to the Resident Engineer.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in civil construction, preferably in substation, power, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with substation civil works such as foundations, control buildings, and cable trench systems.
- Good understanding of construction methodologies, QA/QC processes, and health, safety and environmental practices.
- Knowledge of relevant international standards and GCC/UAE regulations is an advantage.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and coordination skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of project management tools is a plus.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
