Application Engineer (Mechanical Engineering, Composites)

Role Overview

Application Engineer (Mechanical Engineering, Composites) at NOV. The role provides technical bid support to Sales and Proposals, ensuring fiberglass piping systems products are applied within design and performance specifications, aligned with engineering principles, applicable codes, and operational feasibility.

Role Purpose

The position delivers technical governance, resource planning, efficiency improvements, and resolution of complex technical and commercial challenges while ensuring compliance with NOV ethics and quality standards. The role also provides training and guidance to the FGS Team as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Review and Governance

• Review customer requirements and technical outputs to ensure products are applied within safe and specified limits.
• Ensure technical commitments made at bid stage are executable by Operations.
• Review new RFQs and recommend technically compliant and optimized product solutions.

Sales and Proposals Support

• Work with Sales and Proposals team to provide resolution to technical issues.
• Support Sales through technical presentations and customer visits.
• Prepare technical tender packages including clarifications and deviations.

Engineering Analysis and Calculations

• Perform engineering calculations including pipe properties, hydraulic analysis, design verification, sizing, and stress analysis.
• Provide expert technical guidance on codes, standards, and product selection.

Training and Knowledge Management

• Deliver technical training to employees, distributors, and customers.
• Develop and maintain product technical literature and standard operating procedures aligned with QC and manufacturing capabilities.

Operational Excellence

• Drive efficiency improvement initiatives to reduce lead time and enhance deliverable quality.
• Visit project sites when required to resolve technical issues and strengthen customer relationships.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5+ years of engineering experience handling international projects.
• Strong knowledge of Composites (fiberglass piping systems) and related standards highly desirable.
• Strong mechanical engineering working knowledge.
• Hydraulic analysis and engineering calculations.

Skills & Competencies

• Piping stress analysis highly desirable.
• Quality Control and Testing in fiberglass industry desirable.
• Technical bid and proposal experience desirable.
• Customer-facing technical support desirable.
• Technical training and presentation experience desirable.
• Experience working with manufacturing and QC teams desirable.
