Application Engineer for Primary Application MEA (f/m/x)

Role Overview

Application Engineer for Primary Application MEA at Omicron. This is a technical leadership position serving the Middle East and Africa region, based within the organization's primary applications business unit.

Role Purpose

Act as the primary technical point of contact for power system applications across the MEA region. Own application activities for primary equipment while collaborating with sales, product management, marketing, and regional leadership to drive customer solutions and regional business development.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Support & Technical Delivery

• Provide technical expertise during strategic customer visits, supporting utilities, EPCs, and industrial customers with application-oriented solutions.
• Support commissioning, testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting activities for primary equipment across the asset lifecycle.
• Support primary equipment applications for power system assets including transformers, GIS/AIS, switchgear, cables, and substations.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with Area Sales Managers, Application Engineers, Product Management, Marketing, and Regional Management on application activities.
• Proactively take ownership of related application activities in the region.

Business Development & Strategy

• Contribute to regional business development by identifying customer needs, application opportunities, and technical requirements.
• Monitor regional trends, standards, and competitive developments.
• Actively bring in ideas for improvement based on market insights.

Knowledge Sharing & Events

• Participate in regional user meetings, workshops, and technical events.
• Contribute to presentations, application notes, and technical papers.

Qualifications & Experience

• Completed education in electrical engineering.
• Several years of experience in testing of power systems and in primary applications.

Skills & Competencies

• Customer and business oriented mindset.
• Proactive networker and self-motivated.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic.
• French, Turkish, or other languages are a plus.
• Ability to convince colleagues across distances and countries.
