Role Overview
Application Engineer for Fire Rated Ducts, VAVs and Dampers at Al Shirawi Group.
Role Purpose
Provide technical engineering support for fire rated ducts, variable air volume (VAV) units, and dampers throughout the sales cycle, from enquiry through project delivery. Bridge the gap between sales, customers, and project teams by delivering compliant technical solutions that balance performance, safety, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Submissions & Compliance
- Prepare technical submissions and compliance statements for fire rated ducts, dampers, and VAVs for consultant and contractor approval.
- Prepare technical submittals based on project specifications and contract requirements.
- Submit completed submittals to contractors and consultants for approval.
- Evaluate value engineering options without compromising safety or performance.
Sales Support & Quotations
- Support sales team in reviewing enquiries, RFQs, and tenders from a technical standpoint.
- Prepare bills of quantities (BOQs) and quotations.
- Create quotations as part of sales support activities.
- Follow up on quotations.
- Send order acknowledgements to customers.
Design & Equipment Selection
- Perform heat load calculations and design work when schedules are not provided by the customer.
- Select equipment based on contractor specifications, customer specifications, and equipment schedules.
- Quote based on price lists and cost sheets.
- Conduct equipment selection and cost estimation.
- Recommend cost-effective product solutions while maintaining compliance with project specifications.
Project Documentation & Coordination
- Prepare order estimation sheets and obtain approval from Sales Manager or Senior Manager.
- Prepare project files and hand over to Sales Coordinator.
- Obtain specifications from contractors and use them to inform equipment and design decisions.
Stakeholder Communication
- Provide clarification to project managers and site teams on installation and commissioning requirements of dampers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (graduation or post-graduation level).
- Relevant experience as an Application Engineer or in similar technical roles.
- Experience in technical submissions, compliance statements, and fire rated ducts, dampers, and VAVs for consultant and contractor approval.
Skills & Competencies
- Understanding of HVAC systems and heat load calculations.
- HVAC design using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Experience in sales support, quotation creation, and understanding of commercial aspects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
