AC Technician

Role Overview

AC Technician at IHG Hotels and Resorts. The role is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems throughout the hotel.

Role Purpose

Ensure that all guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, kitchens, and back-of-house facilities operate efficiently while maintaining guest comfort, safety, and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair air conditioning systems, chillers, FCUs, AHUs, split units, package units, ventilation systems, and exhaust fans.
• Maintain refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and cold rooms.
• Replace filters, belts, motors, thermostats, valves, bearings, and other HVAC components as required.
• Monitor refrigerant levels and repair refrigerant leaks in accordance with environmental regulations.

Operations & Monitoring

• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests related to air conditioning and ventilation.
• Monitor HVAC system performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Perform daily inspections of mechanical plant rooms and equipment.
• Support energy conservation initiatives and ensure equipment operates efficiently.

Record Keeping & Compliance

• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records and work orders using the hotel's maintenance system.
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, health and safety regulations, and fire life safety procedures.

Collaboration & Safety

• Coordinate with contractors during major maintenance or renovation works.
• Maintain engineering tools and equipment in a safe and organized condition.
• Assist other Engineering team members when required.
• Participate in emergency maintenance and on-call duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience as an A/C Technician, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Valid HVAC/Refrigeration certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of chilled water systems, VRF/VRV systems, split units, FCUs, AHUs, package units, and refrigeration equipment.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance management systems (CMMS) are an advantage.
