Role Overview
3rd W/K Engineer for Dredger with NMDC Group. This is an onboard position supporting marine dredging operations.

Role Purpose
Assist the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of all machinery onboard the dredger, including engine-room watchkeeping, equipment maintenance, and compliance with maritime regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Engine-Room Operations
- Perform engine-room watchkeeping duties and monitor main engines, generators and auxiliary machinery.
- Operate and maintain pumps, compressors, purifiers, boilers and other engine-room equipment.
- Monitor machinery parameters and promptly report abnormalities, defects or potential breakdowns.
Dredging Machinery
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of dredging-related machinery, including dredge pumps, hydraulic systems, winches and cutter/spud/ladder systems as applicable.
- Assist in maintaining fuel, cooling, lubrication, bilge, ballast and hydraulic systems.
Maintenance & Inspections
- Carry out routine inspections, lubrication, cleaning and preventive maintenance as per PMS.
- Assist with troubleshooting, repairs and overhauls of engines and auxiliary machinery.
- Assist senior engineers during dry-docking, repairs, surveys and machinery inspections.
- Support proper maintenance and inventory of critical spares, tools and consumables.
Documentation & Records
- Maintain engine-room logs, checklists, maintenance records and defect reports accurately.
Safety & Compliance
- Comply with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, Class, Flag State and company HSE requirements.
- Participate in emergency drills and respond effectively to machinery failures and onboard emergencies.
- Ensure engine-room equipment, tools and working areas are maintained in safe and clean condition.
Team Support
- Support the engineering team in achieving safe operations, equipment reliability, fuel efficiency and minimum downtime.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in marine or mechanical engineering.
- Five years of experience on marine vessels, preferably onboard dredgers.
