Role Overview
3rd WK Engineer with NMDC Group, onboard a cutter suction dredger.

Role Purpose
Ensure the efficient and safe operation of the dredging engine by assisting senior engineers in maintenance and repair activities, monitoring performance, and maintaining compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Engine Maintenance and Repair
- Assist the 2nd and Chief Engineers in daily engine maintenance and repair tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new engine components or systems.
Monitoring and Inspection
- Monitor and record engine performance data, identifying any potential issues or anomalies.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure the engine's optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving
- Troubleshoot and diagnose engine-related problems, implementing effective solutions.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations at all times.
Team Collaboration and Support
- Collaborate with other engineering team members to ensure seamless integration of the dredging engine with other vessel systems.
- Provide support and guidance to junior engineering staff as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a 3rd Engineer or equivalent role in the marine industry, preferably on dredgers.
- Valid 3rd Engineer's License or similar certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of marine engine systems, including diesel engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication and collaboration.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor as required.
- Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
