Role Overview
3rd W/K Engineer for Dredger with NMDC Group.
Role Purpose
Assist the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of all engine room machinery and auxiliary systems aboard a dredger vessel, maintaining engineering watches and supporting continuous vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Watch & Operations
- Maintain an engineering watch in accordance with STCW requirements and company procedures.
- Monitor, operate, and maintain main engines, generators, pumps, compressors, hydraulic, and fuel systems.
- Support dredging operations by ensuring continuous availability of propulsion, hydraulic, and auxiliary equipment.
Maintenance & Inspection
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance and routine inspections using the vessel's PMS.
- Troubleshoot machinery faults and report defects promptly to senior engineering officers.
- Participate in machinery overhauls.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, ISM Code, MARPOL, and relevant statutory regulations.
- Maintain accurate engine room logs, maintenance records, and spare parts inventory.
Operational Support
- Participate in bunkering and fuel transfer activities.
- Participate in emergency response drills.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices within the engine room.
- Supervise and guide engine ratings during maintenance and operational activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer to support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
Qualifications & Experience
- STCW III/1 Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW) Certificate of Competency or higher.
- Experience on dredgers or other marine/offshore vessels is preferred.
