Role Overview
Third Officer position with NMDC Group. This is a maritime navigational role based at sea, responsible for watch-keeping, voyage planning, and equipment management aboard vessel operations.
Role Purpose
Maintain safe and compliant vessel navigation through active watch-keeping, voyage planning, chart management, and continuous oversight of navigational and safety equipment in accordance with IMO and Flag State requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Watch-Keeping
- Perform sea, port and anchor watches as per Master instructions.
Voyage Planning & Navigation
- Conduct voyage planning for assigned routes and passages.
- Correct and order charts, nautical publications and other publications in accordance with IMO and Flag State requirements.
- Maintain Log Book records.
Equipment Management & Supervision
- Supervise and check navigational equipment, lights and day marks.
- Monitor the performance of navigational equipment and safety equipment.
- Monitor equipment expiry dates and ensure timely renewal or replacement.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma.
- Officer of Watch Unlimited Certificate II/2.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a navigational watch keeping officer.
Skills & Competencies
- Good English communication skills.
- Good knowledge of safe practices related to anchor handling and towing operations.
