Role Overview
Lead Technician at PetroRabigh. The role is based at a refining and petrochemical facility and reports to the Foreman.
Role Purpose
To maintain the reliability and safe operation of electrical power systems across all facility equipment through advanced troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose equipment faults, locate faulty components, and determine the nature of repairs and spare parts required to plan work correctly.
- Perform troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and repair of defects across LV/HV switchgear, protection systems, SF6 gas handling, VFD, UPS, battery charger, battery bank, power cable, transformers and transformer oil, motors, MOV, generators, and heaters.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs for all electrical equipment.
- Execute predictive maintenance programs including thermography, transformer oil analysis, and partial discharge testing.
- Troubleshoot and repair UPS equipment and resolve complex power supply issues.
Equipment Testing & Configuration
- Conduct electrical equipment testing on breakers, transformers, cables, and motors.
- Program, configure, and perform diagnostics on VFD software tools for TMEIC, Toshiba, ABB, Siemens, and other manufacturers.
- Test protective relaying systems, electric metering and measuring devices, intelligent electrical devices (IEDs), and power monitoring and control systems.
- Download protection settings, evaluate settings and events, test all protection functions, and safely upload protection settings.
- Generate guidelines on electrical testing equipment usage and deliver required training classes.
Analysis & Improvement
- Lead root cause failure analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate potential improvement opportunities to enhance electrical equipment and plant reliability.
- Recommend new modifications to improve existing facilities.
- Develop technical reports, lessons learned sessions, and technical analysis for delivery to department management.
Supervision & Training
- Assist in monitoring, facilitating, and controlling contractor works under OPEX and service contracts.
- Deliver training on various technical topics.
- Provide guidance to support facility operations and compliance.
General Duties
- Follow PRC safety standards and guidelines.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Foreman.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in electrical discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in refining and petrochemical industry.
- High experience in diagnostics and repair methods for electrical equipment in refining and petrochemical industries.
- High experience in international maintenance standards and best practices.
