Role Overview
Teacher Assistant at Hayat Universal School.
Role Purpose
Support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality education and creating a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment where all students can thrive and develop independently.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support
- Deliver support to small groups of students to reinforce learning concepts introduced by the teacher.
- Assist individual students or small groups in completing tasks assigned by the teacher.
- Implement structured educational programs including guided reading, guided mathematics, writing groups, and similar initiatives.
- Help students develop independent learning skills, manage their own learning, and prioritize their time.
Classroom Operations
- Assist with classroom procedures and classroom-related tasks.
- Supervise students within the classroom and throughout the school.
- Help manage daily tasks including book exchanges, collection of project materials, and student supervision.
- Prepare and organize the classroom at the start and end of each school year by gathering, counting, and restocking resources.
- Assist in decorating bulletin boards and other school areas throughout the year and during special events.
- Prepare, set up, and maintain educational devices and software, ensuring students use them effectively and safely.
Behavior and Classroom Management
- Support the teacher in implementing school behavior management programs and classroom management strategies to ensure a purposeful, safe, and interactive learning environment.
- Monitor student performance and report observations to the teacher; note that formal assessment remains the teacher's responsibility.
- Refer students to counselors or complete referral forms as required; do not manage or discipline student behavior independently.
Collaboration and Communication
- Maintain positive, supportive, and professional relationships with the classroom teacher, students, parents, school administration, and contribute positively to the school overall.
- Collaborate continuously with the classroom teacher.
- Clarify instructions provided by the teacher.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with parents and students.
- Share observations with the classroom teacher on a regular basis, especially regarding student behavior.
- Communicate with colleagues and school administration regarding ideas and feedback in a professional and constructive manner.
- Attend weekly collaboration meetings with the classroom teacher to discuss weekly matters and plan for the following week; provide a copy of the meeting minutes to the supervisor of teacher assistants.
Professional Development and School Community
- Participate in professional development opportunities alongside teachers where possible.
- Attend staff meetings and participate actively.
- Participate in school events and projects.
- Submit official documentation related to education, training, and certifications to enable the school to meet legal accreditation requirements.
Additional Duties
- Cover the classroom teacher's classes during absences, including classrooms without a permanently assigned teacher assistant; the classroom teacher must provide a lesson plan, preferably focused on review and application of previously taught material; efforts must be made to avoid extended classroom coverage by the assistant; if extended coverage occurs, planning and assessment responsibilities must be assigned to the teacher.
- Supervise students in different areas of the school and on school trips as needed.
- Attend parent meetings with the classroom teacher and with management members outside work hours as required.
Tasks Explicitly Not for Teacher Assistants
- Conduct assessments, tests, or quizzes; correct work; enter grades in the gradebook; or record attendance.
- Initiate communication with parents about students' academic or behavioral matters.
- Manage or discipline student behavior independently without the teacher.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to education or English language; or a minimum of two-year post-secondary diploma in these fields.
- Age between 25 and 40 years; in good health.
- Minimum two years of work experience in a related field; preferably in Qatar.

Additional Information
- Transferable residency or eligibility to obtain a work permit required.
- End-of-service award equivalent to one month's base salary for each complete year of service.
- Base salary calculated as 70 percent of total salary.
- Paid annual summer leave.
